ICMR invites EoI for developing monkeypox vaccine diagnostic kits

The Indian Council of Medical Research on Wednesday invited an expression of interest in developing a monkeypox vaccine and diagnostic kit. This comes after several cases of monkeypox were reported in India.

“Monkey smallpox virus was isolated by ICMR-NIV for the first time in India and ICMR has invited EoI’s offer to transfer virus strains to interested partners from India’s vaccine and IVD industry for the purpose of supplying genuine monkeypox vaccine and developing diagnostic kits,” an official said. ICMR.

EoI has invited experienced vaccine manufacturers and manufacturers of in vitro diagnostic kits (IVD) to collaborate on the development of a monkeypox vaccine candidate. The EOI submission deadline is August 10.

“Indian Medical Research Council, New Delhi, invites experienced vaccine manufacturers/pharmaceutical companies/R&D institutes/in vitro diagnostic kits (IVD) manufacturers to email expressions of interest (EOI) for joint collaboration in two categories: development of smallpox vaccine candidates monkeys and the development of a diagnostic kit to diagnose monkeypox virus infection,” reads the ICMR invitation letter.

So far, India has reported four confirmed cases of monkeypox – three in Kerala and one in Delhi.
